Role Summary
The Analyst – Asia Region Economic and Financial Monitoring will support the research and analysis efforts of Wilson Harbors by monitoring and evaluating economic trends, financial markets, and key macroeconomic indicators within the Asia region. The analyst will produce regular reports, maintain data sets, and collaborate with senior team members to assess the impact of regional developments on global markets and Wilson Harbors’ strategic interests. This role requires a highly analytical individual with a keen understanding of economic and financial concepts, regional trends, and geopolitical factors.

Key Responsibilities

Economic and Financial Market Analysis

  • Track and analyze macroeconomic data, including GDP, inflation, unemployment, trade balances, and fiscal policies in key responsibility region countries.
  • Monitor financial market trends in the region, including stock markets, bond markets, interest rates, and currency fluctuations.
  • Research economic and geopolitical events that could impact the region’s economies and financial markets.

Data Collection and Management

  • Maintain and update databases on key economic and financial indicators.
  • Source and organize data from reliable sources, including government databases, central banks, and international organizations.
  • Perform data cleaning, validation, and basic statistical analysis to ensure accuracy and relevance.

Reporting and Presentation

  • Prepare regular economic updates, presentations, and reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Summarize and communicate findings in a clear, concise, and actionable format.
  • Develop visual representations of data trends, such as charts and graphs, to illustrate key points.

Risk Assessment and Scenario Analysis

  • Assist in creating models to assess potential economic and financial risks in the region.
  • Contribute to scenario planning exercises based on macroeconomic and geopolitical shifts in the region.
  • Collaborate with the Risk Management team to align economic analysis with the organization’s risk profiles and investment strategies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the global research and strategy teams to align region analysis with broader organizational goals.
  • Support senior analysts and economists with ad hoc research tasks and project requests.
  • Contribute insights to presentations, meetings, and discussions with senior management and other stakeholders.

 

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, International Relations, or related field. A Master’s degree or equivalent certifications (e.g., CFA Level 1) is advantageous.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in economic analysis, financial research, or a related analytical role, preferably with a focus on the region.

Skills and Competencies

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with experience in handling large data sets and conducting statistical analysis.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for presenting economic and financial data.
  • Experience with economic and financial research platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, World Bank database) is an advantage.

Analytical Skills:

  • Ability to interpret complex economic and financial data and extract meaningful insights.
  • Strong quantitative skills and experience in working with macroeconomic indicators, financial statements, and forecasting.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and presentation of complex information in an accessible way.
  • Ability to summarize economic and financial developments effectively for non-specialist stakeholders.

Regional Knowledge and Insight:

  • Familiarity with region economies, including understanding of political and economic dynamics within the region.
  • Awareness of key international and regional organizations, such as the IMF, World Bank, and regional economic councils.

  • Quality of Analysis: Demonstrates depth in analysis and provides actionable insights into region trends.
  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Positive feedback from internal stakeholders on the relevance and clarity of reports and presentations.
  • Contribution to Risk Assessment: Timely identification of potential risks and scenarios impacting the region.
