Position Title: Head of Audit

Job Overview:
As the Head of Audit at a leading bank, you will be responsible for overseeing the internal audit function to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, the reliability of financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the banking landscape, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
– Develop and implement a comprehensive audit strategy aligned with the bank’s goals and regulatory requirements.
– Provide leadership and direction to the internal audit team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
– Collaborate with senior management to identify and prioritize areas of risk and ensure audit activities address these risks effectively.
2. Audit Planning and Execution:
– Plan, execute, and oversee a risk-based audit program covering all aspects of the bank’s operations.
– Ensure timely and thorough completion of audits, including financial, operational, IT, and compliance audits.
– Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and recommend improvements.
3. Risk Management:
– Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
– Monitor emerging risks in the banking sector and adjust audit plans accordingly.
– Ensure the bank’s risk management framework is robust and aligned with best practices.
4. Reporting and Communication:
– Prepare clear, concise, and insightful audit reports for the Audit Committee and senior management.
– Present audit findings and recommendations to the Board of Directors and Audit Committee.
– Maintain open and effective communication channels with all stakeholders, including external auditors and regulatory bodies.
5. Regulatory Compliance:
– Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies.
– Stay updated on changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards affecting the banking sector.
– Lead initiatives to enhance the bank’s compliance posture and reduce the risk of regulatory breaches.
6. Team Development:
– Recruit, train, and mentor audit staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
– Promote continuous professional development and stay abreast of industry trends and best practices.
– Encourage innovation and the use of advanced audit tools and techniques.
Qualifications and Skills:
– Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA) is highly desirable.
– Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in internal auditing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the banking or financial services industry. Experience in banking or fintech is a strong plus.
– Knowledge: In-depth understanding of internal audit standards, risk management, and regulatory requirements. Familiarity with banking technologies and cybersecurity risks.
